Last Friday, Carly did a fun round-up of desks--and asked me to be a part of it! I have to admit I was a bit anxious at first, considering how "normal" my desk is. {Read: I don't have one of those desks you lust after on Pinterest.} Until we move in our house next fall, I vowed to {cv} not to make any drastic design changes in our apartment. Since our days are numbered here, I have shifted my attention simply to getting things done--rather than worrying about having a desk which could be the next Pinterest sensation.

As I prepared my desk for its debut, I realized just how many hours I have spent sitting in those few square feet of our apartment. I got nostalgic for all the little moments my desk got to "see" firsthand, be it the day our wedding popped up on Martha or the day I finally saw all the elements I designed working on Spike the Punch. As lame as it may sound, this little desk knows me as well as one of my best friends.
Since my desk is such a special place, I like to treat it with care. Though I am an office supply nut, I try my best to keep things uncluttered. I plan on keeping function in high regard when choosing my desk for our new place. Most of all, I would love for my new office to be prettier than my current set-up in our very industrial loft. It begs the question: do you have a "pretty" desk or a functional one? xoxo {av}
P.S. Be sure to check out the other desks Carly featured!
waitttt a minute...martha featured your wedding?! this must have been before i discovered your blog! the link above goes to the edited & organized board though - i want the details! :)
ReplyDeleteDiane--you are too funny ;) link is fixed, but here it is too! xoxo {av}
DeleteOh I definitely have a functional desk. Which is an old fold-out table aka really ugly. It's not pretty at all but that's what it is for now! It's big and holds my scrapbooking supplies and work stuff, too.

I definitely have a functional desk. Actually, it's super functional since it doubles as our kitchen table! The one thing I don't love about living in a one bdrm urban apartment is the lack of office space.
ReplyDeleteFunctional! The prettiest thing on my desk is probably a fake flickering candle.
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool you're wedding was featured! I love shopping for office supplies - I get what you mean :)

Or....no desk at all?!
ReplyDeleteWhen we move into our new place- this will change.
We have a charming white desk, although it occupies my Husband Desktop, while I prefer the laptop...on my lap. :)

I only like blue pen. So we could share the packs and be so happy! I have a cute desk with nothing on it.

pretty. not functional. well, kind of functional. but alejandro hates me because i wont let him sit at my desk. when he becomes a mac lover, i'll let him sit there. compromises! ;)
ReplyDeleteseriously- how did I never see that wedding feature on Martha?! love how special and unique your day was! i would say my desk is more pretty than functional right now due to apt. living-- most of my blogging's done on the couch or cozied up in bed w/ my laptop!
ReplyDeleteHave been searching the perfect planner, and I love the outside of yours...where is it from?
