Happy Monday! Today's post is of a different sort, so bear with me...
I love Instagram. I think many of you might share that love.
One thing I don't love?! Those pesky black borders.
Like many of you, I take my photos outside of Instagram and then use this magical program to make my photo infinitely better. After a few frustrations in the beginning, I simply altered my photo-taking habits. As a result, I rarely take photos horizontally on my iPhone. Not a single one of my Instagrams has those ugly borders--and I'm proud of it. Though I'm far from perfect, this is one easy way to make anyone's Instagram feed better.
This is my plea: make Instagram prettier and ban those black borders on your Instagram feed. Make it easier and shoot vertically if you plan to use Instagram. Those black borders don't make your photo more beautiful whatsoever. I hate to be blunt on this one, but I want to keep Instagram attractive. By banning those pesky borders, we can go a long way to making it more enchanting.

I feel the same way! Im a big fan of the "Square Ready" app! It turns those black borders into white borders :)
ReplyDeletehahah WORD> i really dont like those pesky borders either. xoxo jillian:: cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteI don't use borders either! They are so ugly!!
ReplyDeleteI agree! I rarely take pictures outside of Instagram and NEVER take them horizontally in my iPhone! Sometimes I see a white border in people's Instagram pics, too and it's really ugly. I'm glad I was doing something right by not having borders lol!

haha I don't like it either! Sometimes I take a photo and then it ends up not fitting in the square image, so I HAVE to have the black borders, but I try not to! I have a bunch of Instagram pet peeves, too- you're not alone!
ReplyDeleteLife Unsweetened
Agreed! I hate those black borders!!!!
ReplyDeletehaha I'm not a fan of borders either. I've only been on there for about 2 weeks, and the first photo I posted I thought that maybe Instagram cropped it into a square for you. So I posted it and was like "what is THAT doing there!" But now I've got it figured out, so I've been okay after that first picture :)
ReplyDeleteI am so with you on this one but saying that, I am not a fan of vertical pictures :(
ReplyDeleteWhy can't they just remove it? We should start a petition!!!!
x
I'll gladly sign the petition.
ReplyDeleteHaha definitely with you here, I hate the black borders!
ReplyDeleteStephanie
I so agree!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha you can push the border button up top to get it to go away no matter what filter you use!! b/c I agree - don't like them at all! xoxo
ReplyDeleteHaha totally on board with your protest!

haha you are definitely not alone! I was so excited when I figured out how to remove the borders.
ReplyDeleteYou are hilarious, but so dead on with your protest of the black bars! They tick me off - you're not alone!

I take my photos whichever way is convenient & then edit them all in Camera+ before uploading them to Instagram. No black borders ever!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I was just editing some instagram photos and ran across this exact problem! No more black borders!
ReplyDeletethis drives me absolutely crazy, the whole quirkiness/idea of Instagram is square pictures! proud to say I don't have any in my feed either! glad we are on the same page!
ReplyDeleteI feel like an idiot but I have no idea what borders everyone is talking about!
ReplyDeleteyou're far from an idiot! it's not the skinny black borders--it's those big honkin' ugly black borders that come up when people take a horizontal picture ;) xoxo
DeleteI agree with DooleyNoteStyle. I don't understand what the black borders are. Are you talking about the filters that have black borders?
ReplyDeleteno no ;) the ugly things which show up when people take horizontal photos! so sorry for the confusion! xoxo
DeleteThis is my favorite post ever. Obsessed with Instagram, adamantly opposed to those borders. I've even seen them on the vertical ones lately. Super skinny photos. What's up with that?!
ReplyDeleteoh. my. gosh. couldn't agree enough! i'll admit I have a few photos with that from my early days, but I quickly learned the right way.
