I may not be in school anymore, but it doesn't mean I don't adore the idea of back to school fashion. For that reason, creating a Friday's Fancies around what I'd sport on my first day of school was a no brainer--since it's all about dreaming! If I was still in school, I think my back to school best would look something like the outfit you see below...
1) Admittedly, the pretty purple of the Marc by Marc Jacobs tote prompted my obsession with violet this week. These Wendy Mink Amethyst Stud Earrings would add a necessary pop of color and some excitement to this outfit!
2) It may look simple, but this Marc by Marc Jacobs Victorian Tee Blouse would be the ideal blank canvas for the bold leopard scarf. I especially loved the beautifully simple Peter Pan collar.
3) A little leopard never hurt anyone, right? I think this By Malene Birger Kashimo Animal-Print Wool Scarf would make a statement in a fun and fabulous way.
4) I'm not normally one for black jeans, but I couldn't help but fall in love with these 7 for All Mankind Mid-Rise Bootcut Jeans. The best part? They look like normal jeans, not cheesy '80s black denim!
5) Statement bags like this Marc by Marc Jacobs Lucy Ostrich-Effect PVC Tote can make an outfit--and quite an impression {like I'd want on the first day of school!}. I don't know if I could ever pull it off carrying a bag like this, but in my Friday's Fancies, I can ;)
6) To add a little edge to this get-up, I included this Gorjana Parker Leather Wrap Bracelet. This beauty could easily transition from a hard day at the books to a night out with friends, if I was lucky enough to still in school, of course.
7) These J.Crew Oxford Ballet Flats bring my preppy side to life in this outfit. I like that they're a modern twist on such a classic style. I'm sold!
What was your most memorable outfit from the first day of a school year?
{I sported a striped boatneck tee to my first day of high school--and I'll never forget it!
It was also the first day I rocked mousse properly in my unruly curls...oh, the memories.}

Fun outfit!! I am just loving those accessories and that pop of purple :) I totally agree with you about the wrap bracelet. It's something that would look great while in class or out and about at night!
ReplyDeleteI love the outfit. The scarf, bracelet and shoes definitely "grab" my attention. I'm in love with flats lately. I'm getting a bit tired of my feet hurting from my 4" heels. You've inspired me to work harder at accessorizing daily. Have a fabulous Friday!
ReplyDeleteAs I said in the email, those two toned shoes are my heart's desire! Love it
ReplyDeleteLove all of it! That scarf is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThose jeans are so beautiful! There is nothing like a good pair of jeans.

ReplyDeleteLove this! Esp that bracelet!! I can have?
ReplyDeleteSo you were chic on your first day of high school? Nice.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember any notable outfits because I went to a private school from third grade until I graduated. I remember the search for shoes that looked decent, felt comfortable, and met the dress code was about as exciting as back-to-school clothes shopping got.
It was crazy to try to find shoes that look tolerable with box pleat skirts and oxfords or polos in khaki, navy, and plaid or red, white, and blue, respectively!
p.s. this outfit is adorable and I really love those jeans!
ReplyDeleteFor my first day of high school, I wore pressed khakis, a red shirt & A SWEATER VEST with PLATFORM TENNIS SHOES. Yeah, yeah, it's a miracle I had any friends at all.
ReplyDeletethe first time i went to school without a uniform was college. so by 18 i was so very ready to actually pick out my own clothes. i don't remember what i wore, but i do remember going through several outfits before deciding on one.
ReplyDeleteps: i am totally loving the violet!!!
life spelled jen
I LOVE your "dream" outfit!!! :) Too bad I didn't dress that cute on Wednesday...my first day! But I love that look and might have to copy it sometime!
ReplyDeleteLoving those flats; I actually had a similar pair for a while. Also, that Marc Jacobs blouse is super pretty.
ReplyDeleteThat would make a perfect back to school outfit!
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit! The bracelet is great! Love the other outfits you created for your guest posts today, too! Have a great weekend and thanks for hosting this...I love it!
ReplyDeleteLove that bracelet, and I might just have to go and buy the scarf. Fab. I love this Friday feature!
ReplyDeleteOh back to school-my favorite! I can't resist those JCrew spectator flats!
ReplyDeletemy first day of high school, all 4 years, I had to wear my cheerleading uniform. It was kind of nice not to have to worry about what I wore the first day! And no one cares about what you wear the second day, so no big deal!
ReplyDeleteI love that wrap bracelet! The back to school time was always so fun. Perfect look!
ReplyDeleteI think I need to hop on this Friday Fancies bandwagon! Such fun picks from all the bloggers. Everyone has such great style.
ReplyDeleteI have been eyeing those flats for so long - I think they are such a great combination of sweet and girly, with just the right amount of 1920's Gangster.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm crazy - but I really miss the nervousness/excitement of going back to school...and alright, mostly all the back to school shopping :).
