Happy Monday, all! I hope you had a fabulous weekend :) With summer edging quickly into my brain, I thought it was time to do a little swimsuit research. As of late, I have really found myself drawn to one piece bathing suits. Bikinis are fabulous, don't get me wrong--but let's be honest, muffin top from bikini bottoms isn't the cutest of visuals. I like the idea that one pieces can contain all "that" in one place and take a little of the beachbody anxiety away. Though I haven't bought one yet, I do think I will be making a purchase this year...I just am worried I might be skipping my mid-20s and heading
straight into my early 40s.
What are your thoughts? How can you ensure you don't age yourself with a one-piece?
Thanks for helping me to solve another of my fashion dilemmas--I always know you all are good for it!
I hope your Monday flies by with dreams of summer ;) xoxo {av}
#1 is my vote! (You can't go wrong with black and a pretty silhouette). Although I love the retro polka dots of #7, and #8 is SUCH a sweet color! Oh man. Maybe flip a coin to choose?
ReplyDeletei love one piece bathing suits but every time i try one on it just doesn't look right to me. it seems to make me look shorter. i have a short torso and a bigger chest so maybe this is why? I don't know. but i do love the look of them. i really think number 7 would be my choice.

I haven't worn a one piece since I was like 9, but to be honest... I'm with you as I'm getting older [closer to 30 than 20 when did that happen??] and yes, my midsection isn't as trim as it used to, I'm wondering if this is the year for a one piece or tankini...
ReplyDeleteyou have some cute options above that are definitely still "young" - I think 3 and 7 are my faves! :)
I love one pieces I am on the hunt for a sexy on myself! I think you have to be really careful with one pieces but if you find a good one, they can be even sexier than two pieces.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree! I actually posted a one piece last week that I have my eye on, but B is strongly encouraging against it. He says girls our age shouldn't wear one-pieces, but I just LOVE them. I say, "Who cares!"...we don't dress for boys anyway, right?
ReplyDeleteGREAT picks! i really like the retro #1, 3, 6, and 8... lots of great choices! love you lots. xoxo jillian
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of one-piece suits (just because of my body type-- long & lanky,) but number 6 looks like it would be the most flattering of all the choices. It would create amazing curves and the royal blue color is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI had a post about this planned in my head too! Great minds think alike :) I'm thinking of taking the plunge too, so I say go for it! Love #6&8!
ReplyDeleteI don't think one piece bathing suits make you look or act old {true I don't have any and haven't since I was probably 11} but there are some seriously cute one piece costumes {like the ones you have shown} and I've even noticed more and more models wearing them these days...
ReplyDeleteI actually want to get one for myself, and my advice would be go for it (",)
I have this line in my head from Nora Ephron - She said something like when you are in your 20's where a bikini every minute, when you are 50 you will have wish you had.
ReplyDeleteWith that said, I on the other hand, am a huge fan of the 1 piece. I think they are totally sexy, totally eye catching and take some guts to wear. I have three and I love them! Do it!
You can absolutely do a one piece! The trick is to pick pieces that are retro (#1), sexy (#9) or detailed (#6) enough. Just stay away from the plain cuts in solid colors! Love the options you picked out though :)

I'm struggling with this too! I am really drawn to cute one piece swim suits and I think they look so classy. But, I'm 20. It is ridiculous that I want one? Ha!
ReplyDeleteOh please let me know if you love it (once you purhcase). I've been having the same debate.
ReplyDeleteI've always struggled with one-pieces as I'm very "blessed" and so they end up being too tight on top, or too loose on the bottom.

I bought a one-piece this year, so I think they are just fine! and if it's a younger pattern and cut, it won't age you. Maybe leaving a little mystery covering up some of your body is a good thing too, you know?
ReplyDeleteI like one pieces, I think they can be just as sexy. I have one, but have been told by men that bikinis are always better even if you have a muffin top, but since you are married I say totally go for it because all the girls will be envious
ReplyDeleteI love a one piece! They are so stylish these days that I really think you don't have to worry about looking older than you'd like :) All of the ones pictured above are really great options!
ReplyDeleteI feel ya! Had to same concerns before but the one pieces out there these days are super stylish, as are your picks. I love the scallop striped Topshop number the best but they all will keep you in the right age demographic. ;)
ReplyDeletei seem to love one-pieces in theory and then i always opt out when i remember that my belly will be white the next time i have a bikini on, haha. also, i tend to feel way too hot in them. (as in temperature.) but i could be wrong! there might be a perfect occasion for one, like a family boat ride!
ReplyDeleteOhhh love #6!
ReplyDeletePIECE OF CAKE. PEACE OF MIND.
I actually love one-pieces but feel like my upper body is my better half so it seems counter-intuitive to hide by tummy! They are definitely cute though!
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you - I'm 28 and am promising myself I'll be bikini ready by this summer (maybe late summer) but I keep leaning towards the fabulous one pieces, especially the vintage looking ones. I love #4 - I think if it's strapless it's even better and not old looking at all!
ReplyDeleteLove LOVE one-pieces! There are so many options that aren't hum drum and old (gasp!) looking, lol. I was just browsing the Anthro site yesterday and found some gorgeous options! I love 4 and 8!
ReplyDeleteWould you believe that I have a swimwear post in my drafts for tomorrow??!! MUAH! xx
Without a doubt I LOVE one pieces. I can play in the waves without worrying about loosing part of my suit and I don't have to worry about how I am sitting when I'm in one. LOVE!
ReplyDelete#1 is my ultimate favorite! Very 40's and 50's look! Love it! :) Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteI vote #4!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking at one-pieces this year too! I love the vintage glam feel of them:-) As long as I can get a tan, I'm pretty much up for any kind of swimsuit! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI think one pieces are terribly chic-far more so than any bikini. I won't be trading all of mine in anytime soon, but a divine retro inspired suit looks classic, not frumpy! Just make sure the fit is sublime!
ReplyDeleteThey're all super cute, but I have very same fears. For example, a friend of mine wears a one-piece at the pool and my husband refers to her as mini-mom. Ouch.
ReplyDeleteI do love the high waisted bikinis that are in too. But then again, that's on the cutesy models. I would definitely try them on though.
Also, I feel like I'll never fit into a one-piece, my torso goes on for DAYS.
Those that you picked out are GORGEOUS though. Hey, maybe we can all start a revolution.

i do love some of the 1-piecers out there but i hear ya - i get nervous that im aging myself. and to be honest - seeing those bikinis gives me motivation to get my booty in gear!great pics!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE one pieces and am SO glad they're back in style!! We ladies don't have to obsess about getting our tummies super flat and they're so lady-like and appropriate! Now that they're in, they've started to make some beautiful prints and styles so that you don't look like you're way over your age! Thank Goodness!!
ReplyDeleteA fun color and print and a nice style [no speedo style or granny style] will ensure that you don't age yourself in a one piece! :D
ReplyDeletePS Sunny weather?! I'm jealous! It's been cold and dreary in CA!

i love the one piece. i have a strapless black and white polka dot number that i've been rocking for the past summers. that being said, i now want another one piece, currently obsessed with these anthro numbers: here and here. sigh, if only money was not a factor.
ReplyDeleteLove you choices! I actually had some of them on my list as I was brainstorming for my collage. :) There's only one thing I'm struggling with - price. I've already accepted that I'll be one of few 23 year-olds sporting a one piece on the beach, but I can't seem to find one that I love that isn't way beyond what I'm willing to spend. If I find one for a great price, it never seems to suit my style. Hopefully I'll find the right one soon - I leave for vacation in less than two weeks! I might just have to stick to my bikinis until I find the right one...I don't want to settle.
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE! Your picks are amazing! I especially love #8 and #9...but since I'm a tad busty, I think #1 would be the perfect for me! I think I'm just about over bikinis :)
