For those of you who know me, you'll know that the title of this post is a play on words. I grew up in a little town in southern Indiana, otherwise known as Seymour. If you're any sort of a movie watcher, you'll also know that the subject of the board below is Julianne Moore--and you're seeing more of Julianne Moore...get it?! {Ok, I'm lame. Forgive me.}

Anywho, I was more than surprised to see the face of Julianne Moore infiltrating the Talbots store when I attended a Junior League meeting last Sunday. {Yes, we had a meeting inside their store.} I was pleasantly surprised in my first-ever visit to a Talbots store...the quality and workmanship of their clothing was much better than I expected!
{My only previous experience with Talbots was that the mother of my best friend and senior year roommate {kj} worked there for a short stint, which is where her mother found the desk I used for that entire school year. I saw the same table/desk while at the meeting on Sunday. I may have gotten a little nostalgic for that year, just saying.}

Though I didn't walk away with any purchases, my interest was certainly peaked in their selection.
I could feel a definite vibe in the J.Crew direction from their presentation of their merchandise,
but their prices eclipsed those of my favorite retailer. The structure and quality of the eyelet lace reminded me of past seasons of Milly and Shoshanna, who happen to be
two of my most loved designers.

I'll have to wait and see if Talbots is worth the investment, but my work wardrobe would absolutely welcome any of the pieces above. With Julianne Moore at the center of their advertising, I'm sure to keep my eye on Talbots in the coming months.
Have you ever purchased from Talbots? {I'm curious to see the spread here!}

I never have bought anything at Talbot's but I saw their new "redesign" article that was in InStyle a few months ago, new creative direction I guess...it is a lot more J. Crew-y now! And Friday Fancies, I look forward to it every Friday! Have a great day!!
ReplyDeleteMy MIL got me a sweater from there that didn't fit so I took it back and got a cute blazer and sequiny top. I really like their new designs. A lot of their stuff is very much like J. Crew. Some of it is just a little older.

I haven't but I have to admit that I was very impressed with their JM campaign- so pretty. Will definitely check it out and ps, looking forward to Friday as always- might even jump in one of these days:)
ReplyDeleteMy sister was a merchandiser for Talbots for a while ... And I still never purchased anything from there! Although their things have come around A LOT since the 80's when my mother wore EVERYTHING from there .. I still just can't do it! That yellow jacket it PRETTY cute though! hmmmm...

ReplyDeletei have to say i always associate talbots with like older mommy business wear. But you are right, their clothes are incredibly well made and often really chiq. maybe in my non student life i will make a purchase. maybe.
ReplyDeleteA fellow hoosier!
ReplyDeleteshe is totally gorgeous in those talbots pics!
ReplyDeleteI so agree with Megan, Talbots makes me think of older women. Even though I think their line is very professional and girly.
ReplyDeleteI walked by talbots the other day and saw Julianne, too. Definitely made me take a second look!
ReplyDeleteI also recently discovered Ann Taylor Loft. Where has it been all my life!?
very well made stuff, very business chic, but they have great essential pieces! love your play on words! happy almost weekend! xx, katie
ReplyDeleteTalbots has really stepped up their game and this line is so classic but chic!
ReplyDeleteA lot of stores are "uping" their game, including JCPenny and Talbotts! Can't wait to FF!

ReplyDeletetalbots has totally gotten cute again! i joke that talbots "ann taylored" itself.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding us of tomorrow! and oh my gosh she's so pretty I love that first picture of her :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't purchased anything from Talbots either, but I am loving those eyelet pencil skirts!
ReplyDeleteI’m thinking I’ll have to give ole Talbots a try not that its not so old-lady. I used to hate when my mom would drag me in there as a kid. But now that I’m running the rat race in the professional world I’m thinking those adorable little eyelet pencil skirts would be a wonderful addition to my wardrobe. You can’t go wrong with a pencil skirt. Yay for Talbots!!
ReplyDeleteI love the title of this post, it's so clever! :) I do the same things on my blog but am never sure that people think it's as funny as I do :) Also, I met Julianne Moore a few years ago and was so surprised by how nice she was! My camera batteries died right before we took a picture with her, and she waited for me to change them out! Love her!
ReplyDeleteI agree::: I always thought of them for "older" gals....but I used to think that about Ann Taylor and my has that changed. ;)

My mom shops at Talbott's so I've been in there on multiple occasions with her over the years and it appears (at least from the Spring line you share with us) that they are trying to target a different demographic now then before!
ReplyDeleteI know they've had really good sales in the past so maybe if you wait a while, some of those cute skirts will be on sale (I want one of the eyelet ones for sure!) :)
gorgeous gorgeous! i love those pencil skirts!
ReplyDeletetalbots does make me think of moms, but I think their style has gotten a little trendier! perfect work attire, those pencil skirts are fab!
ReplyDeleteJulianne Moore is so beautiful it hurts... fantastic post!
ReplyDeleteas a fellow red head I have a girl crush on her. I love seeing beautiful red heads!! & I love the yellow pencil skirts. I need bright clothes for spring!
ReplyDeleteTalbots is definitely redefining themselves, and I must say, I like it! Still haven't made a purchase although that yellow skirt is calling my name!
ReplyDeleteone of the best rebrandings i've seen in awhile, and julianne moore is just so lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteWow - this actually makes me want to SHOP at Talbots! And of course, Julianne Moore is just so picture perfect.

I love that Necklace in the julian moore campaign! I never bought anything at Talbots for the simple reason that I don't have one on my side of the ocean ^^ x
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of Julianne Moore and I have to say she looks imcredible here. I wish I was a red head :)
ReplyDeleteyeah, go A! I love Talbots, I just discovered them a year ago. If you weed through the old lady stuff, there are some cool pieces that are very high quality, totally the same price as J.Crew and I think they are cut more for a woman than a teenage boy (sorry J.Crew).
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I can’t see all of this content, stuff keeps hiding? Are you taking advantage of java?
