We met through blogging and she has certainly enriched my life in ways I never dreamed possible. Hello there {long distance loving} readers! I'm so happy to be here guest posting today for Miss {AV} while she is away in my old stomping grounds of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. When I asked my friend here what she would like me to talk about, she gave me free reign but did mention the words "home guru." While I'm not sure how much truth there is to this title, I am certainly excited about my new home and in the last few months have become slightly obsessed with all things home decor related.

They say the kitchen is the heart of the home. No matter what, it always seems to be the place that people congregate. Our current kitchen is pretty small. Good enough for just the two of us for now, but I've always had dreams of a large, open kitchen with a center island. I'd like a space where I can cook away for hours and friends and family can gather around. Eat, drink, and be merry. So without further ado, I give you some eye candy in the form of my dream kitchen. I hope someday to have that large open space with wooden floors, white cabinets {some with glass doors}, an island, and some shelves for my cookbook collection!

{I love how this kitchen has a little attached breakfast nook. I think that's another requirement for mine as well, or an island bar with some seating!}

{I will take that hutch with the glass doors, those pendant lights, and the wrap-around shelf right below the ceiling, perfect for displaying some treasures!}

{via}
{I kinda love everything about this kitchen.
The hutch, the pendants, the floor the pops of blue!}

{via}
{Did I mention I have a thing for glass door cabinetry?
And those dark wood floors are just beautiful.}

{via}
{Love the French-awning style hood, the subway tile, and the island sink!}

{With the exception of the range hood here, this one is my fave. Perfection.}

What does your dream kitchen look like?

  4. this is so coincidental because today i was talking with my friends here (italy) and they all want really modern kitchens one day, as i am completely in love with your style here - wood floors, white cabinets, classic touches but clean lines. i guess this is american of me? haha. great choices!

  5. These pictures are stunning! I would also love a little nook, have an unhealthy obsession with glass cabinetry and love a low hanging chandelier over the dinner table.

    Thanks for guest posting!

  12. white in a kitchen is a must for me. While dark rich wood is gorgeous, I love how light and clean a white kitchen looks. that and I need extra sq. ft. in that room - I like to make a mess and throw a party, and you need the space for both!

  13. my dream kitchen is all white...with amazing appliances and tons of space :)

    (oh, and maybe a free maid to help clean up the mess i always seem to make!)

  20. I get a lot of inspiration/entertainment from The Selby. Do you guys go there?

    The kitchen in this studio apartment is amazing; I love the little bunk above it! Normally I'm color-crazy, but I think white suits kitchens really well because it's so clean and bright (plants help the ambiance, for sure).

    Nice picks, Kristen! I looove that little breakfast nook in the first one. & looks like you like white kitchens, too! : )

  22. Oh girl, you just made my kitchen dreams come true! We moved into a new apartment with a bit more kitchen space, but I'd kill for a bright, white space, about 6 more drawers and cabinets and some stunning light fixtures!
