Hello everyone! I'm entirely thrilled it's Friday--I'm betting most of you are too! Though our plans are up in the air for tonight, we have tossed around the idea of catching a concert, featuring one of {cv}'s favorites from his younger days. I pulled together this "concert chic" look to fit with those projected plans and push the limit with a bright color combo I've been dying to try in the form of purple+orange:
2) What can I say? I adore orange. My skin tone works much better with this shade in the summer, but I would love for this Oscar de la Renta Ruffled Silk Top to hang in my closet year-round. Though you can't see it, it also has a super fun back!
3) Continuing with the slightly edgier look, these Anita Ko Spike 14-karat white gold stud earrings provided a nice contrast to the ruffles in the Oscar top. They also jived with the chain on the Tory bag too!
4) I've been dying to own a white blazer for quite some time now. The details in this Elizabeth and James Triple Pocket James Blazer are so exquisite. I knew it had to serve as my jacket for what will inevitably be a chilly {almost} spring night in New England. There are some great buttons right on the sleeves near the elbows, which just put this blazer on a whole other level for me!
5) I can never get enough of 7 for All Mankind. My first pair of "nice" jeans were gifted to me my freshman year by two of my closest {and extremely generous} friends--and I still wear those 7s almost eight years later. I liked the color and the fit of these Kaylie Skinny Trousers. They're just sharp looking, especially in contrast to the ivory and orange elsewhere in the outfit.
6) Playing to the concert chic vibe and again to the chain of the Tory bag, I felt these Vera Wang Lavender Label Snake-Embossed Leather Ballet Flats would be a perfect choice for my feet. Both comfortable and stylish, these little beauties top the outfit off right!
Opinions: do we like the purple+orange?
Do you have a favorite piece from this look?
If you're looking for a fun way to round out your week, consider creating your own Friday's Fancies! It's an easy way to make the hours pass until 5:00pm rolls around ;) It's also a fun avenue to discover other blogs which can help keep you entertained on a slow afternoon!
The idea behind Friday's Fancies is simple: create your dream outfit without looking at the pricetag for whatever activity your Friday will hold. {Truth be told, you could also dream up that activity too!} Many of the Friday's Fancies faithful use Polyvore to create their looks--a super easy website which is also pretty addicting. {Not sure how to use their website? Check out this video to learn more!}
Friday's Fancies also helps to curb my shopping urges...I can channel my much too expensive taste into this weekly outlet, which {cv} appreciates too! If you have any questions about how to create your own look, please feel free to email me...I'm happy to help :)
Looking forward to seeing what you all create! A big thank you in advance for those who take the time to create their own Fancies--you make Fridays so exciting for me :) I am so blessed to have such wonderful readers! Here's to a fabulous weekend! xoxo {av}

I am dying to try this color combo too - purple -orange as well as some other bright color mixes such as bright pink + red, bright pink + orange. I am sure spring will be a great chance to do all that - wear colors. And I am sorry I missed this Fruday Fancies but I am definitely playing next week. This will be so much fun ... I cannot wait. Oh, and I love that orange top - curious to see the back.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous weekend!
