I decided to hop on the treadmill and then make the call after I pounded out five miles {winter marathon training isn't all it's cracked up to be!}. Around 9:00am, it was official: there was no way my little Ford Fusion was getting out of the garage today.
Though I was cozied up on our couch in sweatpants for most of the day doing work, it proved to be a productive snow day work-wise. Here are a few pictures of our snowy day, shot on three different cameras {my Nikon Coolpix S570, my Nikon D5000, and my iPhone}...
Lucy and Gus were positively entranced by the snow, which didn't come as much of a surprise. We opened the window for a minute or two and let the snow blow in...their reactions were hilarious. Speaking of blowing snow, you can see just how hard it blew {in the weirdest direction!} if you look at the lightpole with the speed limit sign.
I was also super excited to try out my new Hunter cable-knit socks that I bought at The Tannery while in Cambridge this past weekend. Let's say this, if you own Hunters, you MUST own these socks. I had the fleece ones before and this cable-knit version rocked my socks off...not literally though. phew! {I would've been freezing outside today!} While it was still snowing, we managed to dig out {cv}'s car and trudge around the apartment complex before retreating to the warmth.
We're hunkering in for another quiet night, though I'm sure we'll both be back at work tomorrow, even after more than a foot of snow. That's one thing about New England I'll never understand...they just get on with their lives during the winter. In southern Indiana where I grew up, a snow like this one would keep me out of school for three days or more!
Thank you all so much for your sweet {and helpful!} comments and feedback on the bookshelves yesterday. I'm feeling encouraged! I'll definitely take pictures of the final product soon :)
Pretty please say a little prayer for me when I get out on those roads tomorrow...
stay safe and stay cozy, wherever you are.
stay safe and stay cozy, wherever you are.
Until then, xoxo {av}
I sooo wish i had a treadmill....beats running in the cold :(
ReplyDeleteso jealous you had a snow day! chicago just keeps on going in the winter.. ah well hopefully ill move somewhere warmer eventually. LOVE the hunter cable socks! is the sock part warmer than the fleece socks? hunters are great for wet snow and rain but they do not keep your feet warm (i usually have to wear big man socks + hunter socks). seriously counting down the days til spring! be safe driving! xoxo jcd
ReplyDelete@krystal - treadmills aren't my fave, but they definitely beat the cold!
ReplyDelete@jcd - we'll move somewhere warmer together, how about that!? ;) the sock part seemed warmer than my fleece from the trial today, though the bottom part of the sock (actually in the boot) seems to be made of a fleece-y material. Regardless, they stayed in their place a LOT better because it held the fold over the boot...I'd recommend them. HIGHLY. The cuteness factor is definitely higher than their fleece counterparts! and I agree! is it spring yet?!?
xoxo
I miss snow days so much! The best part is waking up and realizing that you don't have to get out of bed -- except for the marathon training, which I give you so much credit for. I only just realized how awesome Hunter boots are in the snow; I can't believe I've spent three years in the Midwest without them! Hope you stay safe tomorrow. :)
ReplyDeleteSnow like that always looks so pretty!!! I wish Baltimore would have gotten more!! And of course, lots of positive vibes for the safest commute ever tomorrow
ReplyDeletewhere in so. indiana are you from? i'm at the top of KY! isn't it crazy how those new englanders will get two feet of snow and everybody carries on like it's no big deal?! i love that we get 4 inches here and there are snow days and school/work is closed! yay!
ReplyDeletesnow days when you get off work and don't have to leave the house really are the best! I was hopping for one today too, but only got a 2 hour delay for the start of school...just didn't snow quite enough here I guess. I need to get myself some hunter boots too! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's LOTS of snow! So gorgeous! We rarely get any, but you're so right...when we do, everything shuts down for days!
ReplyDeletelove your collages - you and your guy are too cute !

ReplyDeleteYour snow pictures are so sweet! I love those cozy days!
ReplyDeleteSo much snow!! And I will say a prayer for you as you drive tomorrow! (:
ReplyDeleteThe roads are crazy today, I'd a hard time getting to work on my PT Cruiser, "& I just live about 5 mins away from my office in providence." I absolutely agree with you on the fact that New Englanders have to get on with life the day after a snow storm like this one, it's a little bit too much to ask.
ReplyDeleteStay warm darling
oh my look at that snow. and your kitten babies are just so adorable looking out the window ♥ i assume you've already been out on the road, but i hope your travels are super safe!
ReplyDeletei have a bug convertible so i know what you mean about driving in snow. usually my little car does okay it's just i get high centered so easily!
