Long distance relationships are rough, whether they're with significant others or best friends. Rough in the sense that they're not necessarily easy to maintain, not in the sense that they're not worth the investment! You can't jump on some form of transportation and see them within 30 minutes. You really have to make a concerted effort to keep your friends close--either with email chains, phone calls, or even skype dates.

More importantly, there need to be visits! Even though I'm married now, it doesn't diminish just how much I value my time with my girlfriends...and thankfully my husband understands that. He encourages it, in fact. This time is especially important before any of us enter any other stages in life {like when we have children} and can't travel as easily.
All this being said, I'm working feverishly to try to pull together a girls weekend this coming President's Day weekend. And I need your help!

Here are our puzzle pieces:
-Four of the five of us are spread across the eastern seaboard, the other is in Nevada. -We would ideally go some place warm, since February isn't exactly balmy in the Northeast--or Vegas for that matter.
-The city would need to keep us entertained/occupied from Friday night to Monday morning/afternoon.
-Nashville was our last destination--which was a blast!
-We're not high rollers, though we don't want to shack up in a Motel 6 {no offense...I've stayed in plenty in my day!}
-Nightlife isn't crazy important, but it would be a nice bonus...although nights as depicted in the first photo would be perfectly wonderful for me {in our jammies, hanging out, and laughing}.
Ready.
Set.
Go.
Any and all suggestions are welcome. My friends {and I!} thank you :)
xoxo {av}
I think vegas is a perfect solution. There is a bunch to do there frim the restaurants to the gambling to the shopping to the shows. Plus the price range will be perfect. They have everything there. But you could also hit um miami or maybe even new orleans...that would be a blast!
ReplyDeleteAnd I totally agree with the girlfriend time. And even when you are close its hard to get togethet because life keeps getting in the way
Why don't you go to Miami or soem other place in Florida. The weather would be prefect in February and there is plenty to do ...
ReplyDeleteFlorida sounds good to me. Glad that you had fun in Nashville!
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree, girl time is a MUST!! I think that Chicago sounds amazing!! I love it in the winter! Better bring some warm clothes though!
ReplyDeleteCHICAGO! ...but in summer. these LOTS to do. great shopping and food, really fun festivals, and the lakefront. if you decide to ever visit the city i can give you lots of tips on where to go and what to see. xoxo jcd
ReplyDeleteps i would take a trip to new orleans, i went there with my boyfriend last spring and we had a really great time. ALSO i am in LOVE with charleston, sc, i lived there for about half a year and the city is gorgeous. both are two warmish and v walkable cities with good shopping and food.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Charleston or New Orleans? Somewhere with some nightlife, but it doesn't have to be the main feature, like it would in Vegas. I'm sure no matter where you decide, you girls will have a fantastic time!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Spending time with your girlfriends is always needed even when you don't think it is... good luck planning a get together, take pictures!
ReplyDeleteHey girl!! Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog! It meant a lot to me. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd regarding your question for us readers... hmmm... maybe Orlando or Miami? Somewhere in Southern California? LA? I don't know what the weather is like those places in February though. This is a tough one! :)
i love NY or any other city where you can walk and has a great night life... LA is always great because the weather is fantastic and there's tons to do... have fun!!!
ReplyDeleteWowee! I think that your little Girl Trip sounds like so much fun. My best friend lives only an hour from me, and sometimes that is so tough...so I couldn't imagine juggling friends scattered all over the country!
ReplyDeleteI vote SAVANNAH GEORGIA! It's the perfect spot, pretty warm, and so beautiful. There's Tybee Island beach about 20 min from downtown Savannah, so you could do that, too, if you want. If you go there, please email me and I'll share some of my fave things to do there! :)
Now, I know I'm from Florida...so there's a bit of a bias, but honestly.... I think Miami would be perfect for y'all!! And late february is PERFECT florida weather...not too hot, not humid :)
ReplyDeleteNapa Valley or San Luis Obispo! It's absolutely gorgeous here on the central coast- and wine tasting with the girls can't be beat!
ReplyDeleteY'all want a little piece of southern charm? Go to downtown Savannah, Georgia! It has all kinds of great fun. There's shopping, nightlife, the sweet little historic part, and warmer weather! There is lots to offer. Hope y'all pick a good place because I can't wait to read more! And you're right, best friend long distance relationships are the hardest!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like so much fun..I would go with Florida...as its perfect in February:) kisses, sweetie
ReplyDeleteI would vote for Florida as well, Miami is tons of fun, so is Key West! A cruise might be another option, sometimes you can find great deals. This is making me want a vacation! Can't wait to see where you decide to go, I'm kinda jealous!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree that girlfriends are so important!! I'd love to plan a girls weekend too!
ReplyDeleteHow about Florida? Or a little cool, San Diego, so fun!
great photos!!

Florida!!! Or you can try Mexico
ReplyDeletehmmm I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Atlanta so that would be my option. If you want to do something smaller scale, I'd say Charleston which is also a blast. Do let us know where you decide! :)
ReplyDeleteSo many fun choices out there. Napa, San Francisco, San Diego, Miami, Scottsdale, Austin
ReplyDeleteI SO agree! Seriously! It's super hard for me to be close friends with my friends that live so far away!
ReplyDeleteUHM
Try San Diego?
Florida?
Central Coast of CA :) (Where I'm from, lots of wine tasting and everything)
I am totally with you on the girlfriend thing! It's imperative! I say Charleston or Savannah. I love Charleston - it's a great historic city, but also has beaches. And I hear Savannah is awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat about New Orleans? Night life, plantation tours, gambling in Shreveport, Mardi Gras??
ReplyDeleteJust a thought :)
How about Memphis? You could do the whole Elvis thing.
ReplyDeleteAnd girl time is tres important! Living so far away from all my friends, I miss them dearly. Thank heavens for skype :-)
